Program Overview
This one-day course teaches everyday drivers how to anticipate hazards, avoid collisions, and make safer decisions behind the wheel. Open to anyone 15 and older with a valid license or learner's permit — no CDL required.
What You'll Learn
- Defensive driving principles: space management, speed control, scanning, and hazard recognition
- Common collision types and prevention (rear-end, intersection, lane change, backing)
- Adverse driving conditions: night driving, bad weather, work zones, and limited visibility
- Impaired and distracted driving: alcohol, drugs, fatigue, and in-vehicle technology
- Sharing the road safely with commercial trucks, cars, buses, motorcycles, and bicyclists
- Proper seat belt and child restraint use
- Basic vehicle safety checks and emergency procedures
